Principal SCOTT WILD

Mr. Scott Wild is excited to join the Pacific Trails Middle School staff to serve as Principal. Having lived in San Diego since 2002, Mr. Wild is originally from State College, PA. After graduating from Penn State University, Mr. Wild taught high school English and coached soccer prior to moving to San Diego. In San Diego, Scott served in the Poway Unified School District as an English teacher, ASB director, high school and middle school administrator. In these roles, he focused on strong instructional practices, inclusive school culture, and fostering spaces in which all students and staff feel that their school is a home away from home. Away from work, Mr. Wild loves spending time with his family. His wife of fifteen years, Angela, runs her own company. Their children Avery and Dylan, along with their dog "Penny", make for a lively home. In addition, Mr. Wild is an avid runner, golfer, sports fan and is currently pursuing his doctorate in educational leadership at UCSD. Mr. Wild is humbled and grateful to lead Pacific Trails Middle School and looks forward to partnering with students, parents and staff to serve each and every student as they learn and grow.

Kathryn Freeman, Assistant Principal

Ms. Freeman is excited to be here for her third year as Assistant Principal at Pacific Trails Middle School. Ms. Freeman grew up in Encinitas and attended SDUHSD schools. She went to UCDavis and after finishing school, Ms. Freeman returned to San Diego in 2007 where she worked at a veterinary teaching hospital and fell in love with teaching. She obtained her teaching credential from Cal State San Marcos in 2011 and began teaching 7th-grade science at Carmel Valley Middle School. In 2015, Ms. Freeman was given the opportunity to open Pacific Trails Middle School as one of the first science teachers on staff. In 2016, Ms. Freeman returned to Cal State San Marcos to get her Master’s in Educational Administration. Ms. Freeman is proud to serve the students and community of PTMS and looks forward to a great year!

Lisa Graciano, Administrative Assistant to Assistant Principal

Lisa Graciano has been the Administrative Assistant to the Assistant Principal at Pacific Trails Middle School since 2016. She has served on the School Site Council, and on the Site Safety and Wellness Committee. She assists the AP with annual safety plan updates, the Independent Study Physical Education program, standardized testing, school surveys, student discipline, translator requests, and a variety of other tasks in the administration office. Mrs. Graciano grew up in Southern California, and received her BA in Sociology from Cal State San Marcos. She lives in Oceanside with her husband, daughter, and their 60 pound fur baby, Kona.
COUNSELING

Carsen Anderson (Mc-Z and EL students), Counselor
Ms. Murt is excited for another year as a member of the PTMS counseling team. Originally from Orange County, Ms. Murt moved to Kentucky after high school to attend Western Kentucky University and pursue a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. Soon after graduating, she accepted a job teaching fourth grade in Oakland, California. She then returned to Southern California to obtain a masters degree in educational counseling and become a school counselor. She is looking forward to supporting her students and families and having a great school year!

Lisa Curry (A-Ma), Counselor
Ms. Lisa Curry has been serving students for over 20 years as a school counselor. Before joining the PTMS Wolfpack, Ms. Curry was, and absolutely still is, a Nittany Lion. She received a Bachelor’s of Science in Human Development & Family Studies from Penn State University. She then attended the University of San Diego, achieving a Master’s in Counseling and a Pupil Personnel Services Credential. Ms. Curry began her career as a high school counselor then eventually found her true passion in San Dieguito Union High School District’s middle schools. While supporting students with the many challenges and changes they experience in their early teen years at both Carmel Valley Middle School and Earl Warren Middle School, Ms. Curry was selected as a Middle School #5 Planning Team Member in 2014. She soon after joined what became Pacific Trails Middle School as a founding staff member, embracing the rare opportunity in education to imagine what a forward-looking middle school could provide for a community. A former resident of Carmel Valley and current resident of Encinitas, she developed and maintains a keen understanding of the PTMS community. Ms. Curry is also a parent in the SDUHSD community. Her free time is often spent at the softball fields, cheering on her daughters with their #1 fan by her side–Roxie, the Golden Cavalier.

Marielle Bravo-Saltzman, Counseling Secretary

Ms. Bravo has been excited to be part of the counseling team at PTMS since June 2022. Originally from Puerto Rico, she moved to the United States during elementary school until returning to Puerto Rico to finish college. She began working in public schools as a substitute teacher in Hawaii and South Carolina, before moving to San Diego in 2011 with her husband and two children. Her children are SDUHSD alumni, studying at CVMS and graduating from CCA (2016, 2019). Ms. Bravo began her career with SDUHSD in 2015 as the Attendance Secretary at Canyon Crest Academy. Outside of work, she is an avid reader and loves to spend time in the sun. Her favorite part of PTMS is interacting with the students who come into the counseling office!

Ms. Carl is delighted to serve as the health technician for Pacific Trails Middle School. Ms. Carl is originally from Los Angeles, and has resided in San Diego County since 1984. Prior to working at PTMS, Ms. Carl served as an advanced personal care instructional assistant to some of our most medically fragile students at both the middle and high school level, as well as the adult transition program known as C.O.A.S.T. Academy. In addition to working for SDUHSD, Ms. Carl worked for San Marcos Unified School District, taught kindergarten at the Boys and Girls Club in Escondido, and also worked for A+ Subs in San Diego as a Preschool Teacher. In her spare time, Ms. Carl enjoys spending time with her family and especially loves playing with her 2 and 3 year old grandbabies. She is an animal lover and has 3 dogs and 1 cat. In her free time, she enjoys being out in nature and taking walks. Ms. Carl is a dedicated team member and is looking forward to supporting our staff, students, and families.
